Stop and Play Soft Play Health and Safety regulations statement

Statement of intent
Our health and safety policy is to:
  • Manage health and safety risks in our workplace.
  • To provide clear guidance and information to ensure employees are competent to do their work.
  • Provide and maintain safe plant and equipment.
  • Ensure safe handling and use of substances.
  • Maintain safe and healthy working conditions.
  • Implement emergency procedures, including evacuation in case of fire or other significant incidents.
  • Review and revise this policy regularly.
To ensure health and safety standards are maintained the following procedures are checked on a daily basis:

1. Equipment Safety

Softplay Equipment is regularly inspected for wear and tear or damage that could cause injury (e.g., broken parts, loose bolts). Flooring is covered by durable soft large pads to deliver safety for the play area. However, all edges are covered by plastic and soft fencing. Kids must take off their shoes to be able to enter the Softplay area and they should keep their socks on to prevent sleeping.

2. Cleanliness and Hygiene

At Stop and Play Softplay we keep all the play area parts sanitised after each session to prevent the spread of germs. Also, hand sanitisers are situated around the canteen as well as a hand washing station to ensure all children have good hygiene before having their snacks.

3. Supervision and Staffing

Stop and play Softplay staff are trained and have first aid certificates in the case of emergency to aid the kids, but parents or guardians will be the main supervisors of their own kids. The first aid kit is clearly situated on the shop floor for easy access.

4. Fire and Emergency Procedures

We have only one main door for the soft play which is the entrance door, which will be used in the event of an emergency. The door is clearly marked with the fire exit sticker. Our soft play has Fire alarms and extinguishers in place.

5. Capacity and Crowd Management

Our operation is based on time slot visits. This way we are able to prevent overcrowding. We have included a secure entrance and exit gate to ensure children leave with the appropriate guardian. Also, we have an age group layout to separate toddlers from older children to prevent injuries.

6. Risk Assessments

We will complete all relevant risk assessments and take any necessary action. We follow our health and safety policy regularly to help us point out any hazards and ensure that our soft play remains compliant with health and safety laws.

7. Legal Compliance

We are fully insured for public liability, child injuries and employers liability.
